About me

Engineer who sweats the details

I've spent the last several years building dashboards, growth tools and consumer apps for companies and teams across Vietnam — from VNG Games to small studios.

What I do

Ship products end to end.

I take ideas from rough Figma to deployed, type-safe code. I'm comfortable owning a feature from database schema to the last animation curve.

How I work

Calm, considered, on time.

I keep scope honest, communicate early, and care more about the work aging well than chasing every new framework. Boring deploy days are the goal.

Career

Where I've built things

A short timeline of the teams I've shipped with — full-time, contract and a few freelance stints.

  1. VNG Games logo

    Software Engineer · Rewards platform

VNG Games · Ho Chi Minh City · Full-time
    Feb 2026 – Present

Building the internal rewards platform that powers airdrops, tier programs and reward campaigns across multiple games. Owning vertical slices from PostgreSQL schema and Go services to the Next.js admin and live analytics.

  2. FL

    Software Engineer

Freelance · Ho Chi Minh City · Freelance
    Jan 2025 – Present

Full-cycle work for SMEs and startups, from business consulting through to production: a property CRM, a boarding-house management SaaS, dealer ordering, clinic admin and accounting systems. A lot of it lives in the Zalo developer ecosystem — Mini Apps, ZNS and API integrations — because that is where Vietnamese customers already are.

  3. KA

    Frontend lead

Kim Anh Medical · Remote · Vietnam · Freelance
    Aug 2024 – Nov 2024

Built a multi-role admin web app for a clinic group — doctors, editors and marketing share the same publishing flow with an approval queue and an audit log tuned for medical compliance.

  4. GA

Lead engineer · CMS & learning platform

    G-Academy · Remote · Vietnam · Contract
    Jun 2024 – Apr 2025

Led a small team building a Payload-based CMS and the public academy site. Designed the content model, the editor block library and the role-based publishing workflow that lets non-engineers ship a course on their own.

  5. VT

    Programming Instructor

VTCE Education · Ho Chi Minh City · Part-time
    Jan 2024 – Present

  6. TR

    Mobile + backend engineer

TheRoom · Ho Chi Minh City · Full-time
    Dec 2023 – May 2024

Shipped a React Native community app for a Vietnamese real-estate startup. Designed the offline-friendly chat layer and the listing capture flow tuned for flaky 4G — plus the Node/MongoDB backend behind both.

  7. Hasaki Beauty & Clinic logo

    Senior Software Engineer

Hasaki Beauty & Clinic · Ho Chi Minh City · Full-time
    Sep 2022 – Feb 2026

Led backend design for the internal platforms — WORKPLACE and the in-house CRM — used by 3,000+ colleagues with 2,000+ concurrent sessions at peak, and for the sales channels reaching over a million customers. Improved throughput and cut latency more than tenfold with caching and query work, took 50% off operating cost with automation, a chatbot and in-house ZNS and email services, and cut manual deploy time by 70% with a CI/CD transformation.

What I do

Services I can help with

Most of my work falls into a handful of buckets. Pick the one that sounds closest to your problem.

01 / 06

Product engineering

End-to-end feature delivery: schema, API, UI, motion. Best when your team is small and you need someone who can own a vertical slice.

Considered design

I think in components, but I obsess over typography, spacing and motion. The work feels handmade because it is.

Quality code

Strict TypeScript, accessible by default, tested where it matters. The kind of codebase your next hire will thank you for.

Calm & minimal

Generous whitespace, restrained motion, and only the features the product actually needs.

Built products with teams at VNG Games, G-Academy and a handful of independent studios.

“Trong shipped a feature in two weeks that we'd been blocked on for two months. Calm, sharp, and easy to work with.”

How I think

What I care about

01 / 03
How I work

A simple, repeatable process

I've used this same shape across many engagements. It's calm, predictable and gives both of us room to think.

01

Discovery

We talk. About goals, constraints, users and the messy stuff. Honest scoping, no decks.

02

Design

I sketch the shape — flows, components, types — with weekly check-ins. You see the work as it grows.

03

Development

Implementation in small, reviewable PRs. Strict types, accessible defaults, and tests where it matters.

04

Launch & support

Deploy, measure, refine. I stay close after go-live to make sure the work actually performs.

Why work with me

Built to be a long-term partner

Four reasons most of my engagements turn into longer ones.

Considered design

I think in systems but care about the small things — typography, motion, focus states.

Quality code

Strict TypeScript, semantic markup, accessible by default and ready for your CI.

Calm & minimal

Whitespace as a feature. I design for clarity, not for portfolio clout.

Easy to extend

Documented design tokens and components your team can extend without guessing.
