Overview
Prototype. This is a working interface over modelled data, built to prove the logic before anyreal figures were connected.
The brief
An investor owning four companies, with money constantly moving between them — capital in, material supplied on credit, dividends out, personal funds bridging gaps. Four sets of books, no single answer to a simple question: where is my money right now, how much is tied up, how much could I take out today?
The approach
Model the four companies as intermediate containers rather than as the endpoints. The endpoints are the owner's personal position — every flow starts and finishes there, and each company is a stage in between. That framing is what turns four balance sheets into one number, and it is the entire idea of the product.
Built in Next.js as an interface over a modelled dataset, so the flows and the arithmetic could be argued about on screen with the client before committing to a schema.
The harder parts
Getting the ownership structure written down at all. Who owns what percentage of which entity, which company supplies which, and what counts as "available" turned out to be four different answers depending on who was asked — which is exactly why the tool was needed.
